The Original French Market Coffee Stand Since 1862 • New Orleans, Louisiana
Beignets were also brought to Louisiana by the Acadians. These were fried fritters, sometimes filled with fruit. Today, the beignet is a square piece of dough, fried and covered with powdered sugar. They are served in orders of three. Do not get caught up in wanting to eat inside; it's pretty filthy. Instead go to the back of restaurant and find the TO GO window, and take your treats to the park across the street. The line seems long, but will go by super quick and much better than waiting for hours to sit in a dirty cafe where your feet stick to the floors!
