These were a big hit with the scouts and their families at our Christmas Court of Honor. I used my basic sugar cookie recipe for the base and iced using 20-second icing in squeeze bottles in navy blue, red and white (I thought it came out white enough with no coloring and just a clear vanilla flavoring). I'm considering doing them for our Eagle courts of honor (they usually just do a cake, which is nice and all, but these are pretty cool) and working up some sort of scroll or something that says "Be Prepared" or the points of the Scout Law (trustworthy, loyal, helpful...)
I'm OK with the cookie cutter, though if you don't have the right consistency, the bottom can get really wiggly and mess up the symmetry of the whole thing. Colors turned out too dark for the red and white in these, i'll be more careful with those next time. I also think I'll invest in a food pen so that I can use a ruler and get better definition on the lines.
