This selection is done in 4 color 20 second icing using an icing bottle. To add texture, I added a sprinkle of table sugar on every third leaf. I think if I do these again next year, I might want to apply 2 colors for the leaves, though I haven't had a lot of luck trying to pull off the turning colors look yet.
These were done with 2 colors of brown 20 second icing. The acorn caps are done in a dark chocolate brown, then sprinkled with table sugar while still wet and allowed to dry for 2-3 hours until hardened. I then brushed the excess sugar off with a silicone pastry brush and added the acorns proper with a 20 second latte icing.
All together, I think it gives a really nice impression of fall. In future sets, I'll cut back the number of brown leaves (there were equal numbers of red, orange, yellow and brown) since I've also got the acorns and it starts looking like more brown than I really want in festive fall leaves.
